Awesome Sunset Kayaking Trip!
Highly recommend doing a Kayaking tour through the mangroves with AquaSports. Our guide named 'google' was brilliant! Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the mangroves, its wildlife and environment. We saw flying fish, birds, large crabs and even a stingray together with a fantastic Sunset. Fun afternoon out at the mangroves!
Great afternoon spent at the mangroves! Google was a fantastic tour guide who made sure we were all comfortable and informed us about the history of the mangroves/purple island. You begin the tour with a briefing before setting off in our kayaks. It was a really nice afternoon, seeing a different side of Doha. Great day out with friends.

A must!
The tour was amazing, so much fun and the captain (or the guide) his name is Google from srilanka (yes Google!) was beyond helpful and gave is so much information on the habitat and animals around. Will do this again definitely! Fyi; on weekends it becomes super packed and sells out quickly so book in advance. Amazing experience

Excellent SUP experience
The sunset standup paddle boarding was absolutely incredible. The equipment was perfect for new or experienced paddle boarders and the area was great (no wind). The crew gave us our space allowing us to explore the mangroves on our own and we were required to stay in a group. Get off the beaten path, literally, and into the cool waters of the Gulf
First off, please use Waze to find this gem of an activity off the beaten path. Apple maps and Google are not as accurate and I think Apple couldn't even find it. Also add another hour to explore Al-Khor on your way to the kayaks/SUPs as this resort town also merits exploration and is a little bit of a break from the hustle of Doha. The site is almost the antithesis of the Pearl, City Center, Souq Waqif and while those have their appeal and must visits, it's good to get back into nature and experience something most of the world will never do which is neither good nor bad. Trust in your Waze app and then you will see entry signs to the sports camp. The atmosphere is definitely anti-commercial and the positive relaxed energy starts with the check -in and greetings from the staff. Martin from Kenya was one of our excellent hosts, Please remember to bring waterproof cases, hard or soft, sunscreen, Tevas/closed toe sandals, and if needed portable charging device as there is no power at the hut, just solar. The kayaks are rentals and so not in the best shape but work for this tour. We didn't SUP but they looked in better shape and highly stable. We didn't take the guided tour but appreciated the hosts checking in on our during the time on the water. Also, there's a reason they list the tide on their website. The mangroves are gorgeous but truly accessible only during high tide. You'll see why on your trip in and out of the mangroves. Also note you need a little strength to exit the mangroves during high tide as the current is great for paddling one way but not so much when going against it. Met some wonderful other travelers and felt invigorated, and a little tired, after the trip. All in all, recommend going on this adventure and hope it stays less commercialized and sustainable for years to come.
