DESS School Visit to Al Thakira Mangroves

In November 2025, we had the pleasure of welcoming DESS (Doha English Speaking School) to our AquaSports Eco Camp at Al Thakira / Purple Island for an unforgettable day of outdoor learning in Qatar’s mangrove ecosystem.

The students arrived full of energy and curiosity — ready to explore nature, learn about sustainability, and experience teamwork on the water.

A Real Outdoor Classroom in Qatar

The Al Thakira mangroves are one of Qatar’s most beautiful natural areas, and they make the perfect “living classroom” for students. During the visit, our team guided the group through key topics such as:

What mangroves are and why they matter
How mangroves support wildlife (birds, fish, and marine life)
How we can reduce pollution and protect coastal environments
Simple eco-actions students can take at school and at home

Kayaking Through the Mangroves

After the on-site safety briefing and equipment fitting, students took to the water in a structured and supervised session. Kayaking is a powerful way for students to build:

Confidence and resilience
Teamwork and communication
Respect for the natural environment
Safe outdoor activity skills

Our instructors ensured the activity was safe, well-organized, and enjoyable for every student.

Sustainability in Action
